YES, I certainly agree with keeping new and existing customers engaged with formal information regarding your products and services.
And YES, this will continue, however, times have swiftly changed forever and the new normal is definitely going to be different to what we are doing now.
Globally weβve had to adapt overnight to feeling comfortable appearing on the live screen. It could be any medium such as face time, zoom, skype, Google hangouts etc. Fortunately, this has not been big a problem for me because Iβve been operating my business with a combination of majority online and a small percentage of physical face to face for a few years now.
My questions to business owners are:
What is your plan to adapt to the inevitable change that we are facing?
How are you going to be different to be noticed?
Will you keep on smashing your customers and referrers with communication ONLY about your products and services?
Are you confident enough to let your customers know who is behind YOU β the βbusiness ownerβ?
High profile figures such as the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison have a lovable nickname βScomoβ and the public have warmed to him because he has included his family and pets in his conversations.
An example of this is when Australia first went into lockdown; he told Australia on national TV, that his wife Jen went out to the shops to buy puzzles for their girls and that this was permitted because they were essential items to be purchased
As for me, Iβve found that my team and others relate to me on a much better level of understanding when I share my personal stories with them in the form of videos and photos of what Iβve been doing in everyday life
I always try to make my share interesting and humorous and often incorporate educational information and links to support the content so that the viewer can learn more about the place Iβm located at or the item Iβm talking about.
Working from home during ISO, I set myself many challenges. One of them was to learn versions of the βRunning manβ.
I shared my stories of how I went about achieving this and the feedback I received was that everyone found them inspiring, motivational and humorous.
The photo in this post is an example of a humorous post which is an extension of one of my TikTok videos.
In this photo, Sue says:
My manβ¦..I like them tall and handsome!
Having fun during my discovery jog through Melbourne CBD.
Iβm on the corner of Swanston and Bourke street, which is in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. I experienced something new by making a TikTok video with arbitrary observers watching me. I pushed myself outside my comfort zone with this, however I had enormous fun accomplishing this huge personal challenge.

The three fanciful figures are called Batman, Swanston and Hoddle, named after the three Melbourne pioneers.
